Prologue to Genesis
The Unauthorized Version
Genesis 7
Yahweh said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and all your family. I have seen that you among your generation act justly. Take with you seven pairs of every clean animal, one pair of every unclean animal, and seven pairs of every bird – each pair a male and female. In seven days time it will rain on the land for 40 days and 40 nights. And every living thing that I have made will be erased from the face of the adamah.
So Noah did everything Yahweh told him to do
Noah was 600 years old when the flood of water came on the land.
Then Noah, his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives entered the ark. Of every animal, clean and unclean, every bird, and every creeping thing, two entered with them, just as the Elohim had instructed Noah. And after seven days the rains fell on the land.
In Noah’s six hundredth year, in the second month, on the seventeenth day, the fountains of the great abyss tore open and the window of the heavens was thrown wide. The rains fell on the land for 40 days and 40 nights. It was on that day that Noah, his family, and two of every animal, bird and creeping thing, entered the ark as Elohim had instructed, and Yahweh shut him in.
The flood continued for forty days and as the waters rose they carried the ark high above the land. The waters swelled and carried the ark on its face; even the mountains and the whole of heaven was covered – the mountains 15 cubits under. All flesh died. Everything that moved on the earth – birds, cattle, wild animals, creeping things – and every one of the adam. Everything on the land whose nose was filled with the breath of life was destroyed.
Only Noah was left, with those in the ark.
The waters surged across the land for 150 days.
